The present of Caseificio Longo, and consequently its future, is driven by an increasingly concrete commitment to the environment.
A company born in the green Canavese area and surrounded by the beauty of the Alps, which aims to export Piedmont’s dairy excellence throughout Italy and abroad, cannot ignore a short and medium-term eco-sustainability plan.
This is why Tomini del Boscaiolo have been distributed for a few months now in new eco-friendly packaging, made of recyclable materials that reduce plastic consumption by 50%.
And the short supply chain, with 100% of the milk coming from Piedmontese farms and local breeders, becomes—in addition to a certification of the highest quality—a tangible sign of Longo’s commitment to reducing polluting emissions from transport.
Without forgetting another very ambitious and important medium-term goal: reducing the use of polystyrene to zero by 2025, both for all other packaging and for the elements used in the various stages of the production line.
Polystyrene, in fact, is still widely used in many sectors, including the food industry. It cannot be sorted for recycling and, unfortunately, it is often dispersed into rivers and then flows into the sea: it is not uncommon, even on our beaches, to notice small white pieces of the material breaking down.
The only remedy for this problem is the most radical one, namely eliminating polystyrene, replacing it entirely with recyclable and reusable materials: this is one of Caseificio Longo’s goals to ensure, more and more every day, products that taste good and respect the environment.
